Pau Results

John Locke won the 2m3 Handicap hurdle under a great ride from Corentin Smeulders. He has thrived on his racing since being based in France under our temporary license and a charge in tactics saw him get the victory he deserved. Garo de Juilley ran I the same race with Roisin riding, but a bad mistake at a crucial time in the race saw the end of his challenge.

Demoiselle Kap had an unfortunate unseat when challenging in a handicap hurldle. She has come out of it ok and may head to Auteuil later in the month.

A new acquisition Lenalov made a pleasing start in a 4 year old handicap hurdle coming a close 4th. She goes again in a fillies only race on 19th and if she can build on that performance should go close.

Maillot Blanc ran a great race in defeat at Uttoxeter when finishing a close second. He has really clicked, having been quite quirky in his younger days and Roisin has developed a great partnership with him and another win looks just around the corner.

It was great to see Chestnut Pete get back on the track, this talented but fragile horse made a pleasing return in a race which wasn’t run to suit and we are looking forward to getting him back out soon.

Not so pleased with These Happy Daze who looked to throw the towel in after he got hampered. He came back unscathed and will run again soon.

Garo de Juilley

We had 3 runners at Pau on Monday. John Locke made a return to the flat on the all weather as the ground has gone for him over hurdles for the time being. We were lucky to be able to get the hugely experienced Ioritz Mendizabal on board and he made a satisfactory return finishing 5th in a competitive conditions race. He should sharpen up for the run and will be sure to pickup a similar event the near future.

We were represented by Lucky One and Garo de Juilley in the 100k Quinte hurdle who came 3rd and 7th respectively. Lucky One was stepping up in grade after winning a 2nd division earlier in the season at Auteuil and ran a very encouraging race, picked up good prizemoney and now heads back to Auteuil at the end of the month for a similar race. We were delighted with Garo who looked like he had lost his way last year. This was much more encouraging and he clearly acts well around Pau and we will hopefully find him another race there before 19th Feb when their season ends.
